As released earlier today, we have been given the information as to how Dream Team will shape up in 2012:
Obviously we all know it is a 23 round season, with byes held over the R11-13 period (6 teams per week)
  • Squads reduced back to 30 (from 33 in 2011)
  • Number of trades to remain at 24 for the season
  • Three trades can be made in a week during the bye period (R11-13). Remains at two per week for the rest of the season
  • Leagues increase in size to 18 teams (from 16 in 2011)
  • League matches will run from Round 3-19, finals from Round 20-23.

Then there are these changes regarding trading:
  • Hitting the trade button is no longer final, with the ability to reverse trades up until lockout.
  • Ability to trade out a player from one position to get in a player in a different position with DPP.

The original article can be found here:
https://www.afl.com....09/default.aspx

DT Talk also have an article recapping and discussing the changes.

Not happy.

Like the game itself, fantasy footy is being changed too much.

We have to remember that virtual sports are trying to cater for the masses rather than enthusiasts. As has been said elsewhere, not everyone can be on the computer at 5:00PM on a Friday afternoon to finalise their team.

I was an advocate for this DPP trading thing as an improvement during the 2011, happy enough it has been introduced.

But with a squad of 30 and 33% (10 players on average) of teams having a bye during the mid season bye rounds, the numbers say you are only going to have 20 players with a possibility of playing each week (then have to consider omissions, restings, injuries and suspensions). Squads of 33 would have made things easier through the bye period, but probably too easy through the rest of the year, so really a no win sitaution.

I have heard that the assistant coach might be available on Monday.

Think they should have gone back to 20 trades. Made it more interesting, and less teams were almost the same

MThe early trader punishments are/were one of the most entertaining things (when your mate does it).
But it will be trickier to get all the good rookies with the bench back to normal, not as much room for passengers

was wondering if Peaky was the main reason for the "reversable trade" button. :P
Time to give my 2012 team a start.

only 20 mins to bite. Na I just remember you saying there should be something that should stop you trading to much. But this is perfect trade all ya like then just reverse it.
Dam it is hard to make a side around these byes. I'm gunna have to hope that most of the cows are ready early so I can do my upgrades in Rnds 11-13.

Prices are high but i think it will make this year a lot better with every trade crucial and our starting sides more important than ever! The byes are what are going to hurt especially with those going for overall glory ;) Swan should still be a lock at his price

I think the changes help towards making teams more original.

Plus I'm always tempted to do Monday trades, Now if a Heath Shaw Pulls out a 40 I get the satisfaction of booting him out of my team just to bring him back on Friday.

Cheers :)
