Okay, here is my team going into the NAB cup.

Backs: B Goddard, B Deledio, G Birchall, P Duffield, J Grimes, M Clarke, B Ellis (S Morris, B Wilkes)

Mids: S Pendlebury, G Ablett, M Murphy, L Hayes, D Tyson, D Shiel (E Kavanagh, T Mitchell)

Rucks: A Sandilands, H McIntosh (J Giles, O Stephensen)

Forwards: L Franklin, A Goodes, N Fyfe, D Martin, S Higgins, D Smith, D Zorko (B Smedts, A Treloar)

$600 left

I've disregarded the bye and will probably disregard it completely. not sure how to approach it so i'm just trying to pick the best possible rnd 1 side

thoughts?

Dont have the balls to pick Higgins myself, I blow my nose with stronger fabric than his tissues but excellent starting side imo.

Good luck with the Duffman, he is a favourite of mine

nice team mate 3 rd 13 defenders and 4 rd 13 mids but as you said you dont care. seems pretty solid not convinced on L hayes though maybe downgrade a fwd to upgrade him.

with the byes, i find that if you build your squad around the byes....you will have a weak team for the first 10 rounds imo. so hoping to go all out in first 10 rounds and hopefully a good start will ease the low bye round scores

Just because you take the byes into consideration does not mean a weak starting squad.

If you assume start with 14 keepers, say 4 backs, 4 mids, 2 rucks and 4 forwards, spaced across the byes

Waters, Enright, Scotland and Goddard
S.Thompson, Pendlebury, Watson and Ablett
Goldstein, Mumford
J.Brown, Higgins, Chapman and Franklin

I have just used random names, but who is to say that is significantly weaker than

Scotland, Bock, Fisher and Deledio
Judd, Ablett, Mitchell and Hayes
McEvoy and Z.Smith
Robinson, Lewis, Gray and Riewoldt

? Just sayin..

after rnd 1 of NAB cup this is my updated team....

Backs: B Goddard, C Enright, B Deledio, G Birchall, G Broughton, R Hargrave, M Clarke (T Bugg, S Morris)

Mids: S Pendlebury, G Ablett, M Murphy, D Tyson, K Horsley, D Shiel (E Kavanagh, T Mitchell)

Rucks: D Cox, J Giles (S Rowe, O Stephensen)

Forwards: L Franklin, A Goodes, N Fyfe, M Pavlich, D Martin, D Smith, D Zorko (B Smedts, A Treloar)

$11,500 left

*Decided to go completely the gun or rookie structure (Hargrave could be considered mid-range)
*Hargrave looked solid in NAB cup
*The Pav looked looked fit and played well
*J Giles similiar to Z Smith and therefore confident in starting him
*D Tyson looked good and apparentley K Horsley dominated the GC intra club

*Team will most likely change again after next week

Nice team! Only comment is yr mids structure with only 3 guns - obviously mid rookies are good cash cows, but that''s a long way to go before you can upgrade to another gun in the mids and during this time the Swans, Mitchells, Boyds of the world will be racking them up!

Personally I would downgrade a back & a forward and strengthen the midfield, but can't fault your personnel.

Isn't Zorko injured?

i've decided to see how my team would look like if i took the byes into consideration.

Backs: B Goddard, H Shaw, B Deledio, P Duffield, J Grimes, R Hargrave, B Smedts (T Bugg, S Morris)

Mids: S Pendlebury, G Ablett, M Murphy, J Watson, K Horsley, D Shiel (E Kavanagh, J McDonald)

Rucks: A Sandilands, J Giles (S Rowe, O Stephensen)

Forwards: L Franklin, A Goodes, N Fyfe, D Martin, N Riewoldt, D Smith, D Pfeiffer (A Treloar, T Walsh)

Not sure which looks stronger, the bye consideration team or the non-bye consideration team

that last one looks pretty good! I'm not worrying too much about byes, just trying to not pick more then 2 premos with the same bye in the same position. But even still i've got three rd12 guys in the fwd line and will cop a donut that round.

That last team looks pretty dam good though. Maybe a bit too much risk in the backline with duff, grime and hargrave but they all hit their top form it will be a masterstroke so nothinhg I can add except watch rookies and injuries! (Horsley and Pfeiffer are still on rookie lists and will need to be elevated, shiel is rumoured to be injured but may still make rd1). Good effort!

Well this will most likely be my locked rnd 1 team

Backs: H Scotland, B Goddard, B Deledio, G Birchall, B Waters, R Hargrave, B Ellis (M Clarke (e), T Bugg)

Mids: S Pendlebury, M Boyd (vc), G Ablett ©, S Coniglio, D Shiel, J Magner (D Pfeiffer (e), S Kerridge)

Rucks: D Cox, J Giles (J Redden, O Stephenson)

Forwards: L Franklin, A Goodes, N Fyfe, M Pavlich, D Martin, D Smith, B Smedts (J Cameron (e), T Dickson)

-Already fuc ked up with Shiel and leaving Bugg on the bench
-Going with 3 premiums and rookies in the mids
-Rookies still could change depending on rnd 1 teams
-13 Premiums 2 Mid-Range 7 Low-priced/Rookies
-$26 000 cash in bank

Looks good MJ ... can't really find a fault. :)

I'd only be worried about Goddards preseason form ... but looks like most people are sticking with him.
